A carpet of windfarms

Is it right to cover some of the nation's most beautiful scenery in 250m tall wind turbines?

You should know by now that I’m passionate about local news and believe we’re not getting enough of itand what we are getting is of a very poor standard. Well I’m trying to do my bit.

In the last week I’ve tried something new - something I’ve never done before - and released two five minute long podcasts about issues of local news - both featured hot topics for the areas they are created to serve.

I live in Hastings these days and what goes on in our town is important. It’s vital our political leaders get things right and make the right decisions but then local people need to understand how those decisions were made, was the motivation about doing what’s right for the town or was it based on the political dogma of the political party that’s in control of our council? Hastings five in five (five subjects covered in five minutes) would like to get to the bottom of matters like that and the first edition focussed on a new road building project that’s ten years late and an inferior solution to a problem of congestion then the one proposed a decade or more ago!

Then came Galloway in five! I love Galloway in south west Scotland, it’s where I call home and it’s where I had my first job as a local newspaper reporter - where all my passion for local news was incubated. There are plans to carpet the Galloway Hills in wind turbines and local people don’t feel they are being heard… maybe I can do something about that!
