Shortly before 17-year-old Oli Ross died, in August 2023, he told his mother Claire: “Please mum, don’t be sad when I die,” it’s one of the few requests Oli made of his mum during his 25 month battle against an agressive brain tumour that she was unable to accede to.
Oli’s story demonstrates how quickly life can change. With his family, on a perfectly ordinary July afternoon, he was watching football. A few hours later, from his home in Ashford in Kent, he’d been rushed to Kings College Hospital in London, where a brain scan brought news that would change his world and that of his family and everyone who knew him in the most brutal way.
In this podcast I meet Oli’s mum Claire and she told me about her son and about the 25 month battle he fought against ‘the cruelest of diseases’. Oli’s life may have ended but he has left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Have a listen now to Oli’s story, as told by his mum who nursed and cared for him every step of the way.
